Fight to the courtyard and learn about the Elizabeth's ability to make extra-dimensional tears in the fabric of space and time. Tears she probably could have used for her own escape

Note that the Courtyard is near the Hall of Heroes Gift Shop (after you cross the courtyard of enemies), so this is a good point to start this section.

"Behold the Miracle Child! A Prophecy Fulfilled!" After fighting past the Courtyard (where Booker gets the ability open dimensional tears), you will be in a circular room with two vending machines and two kinetoscopes. This is one of them.

"The Lamb is the Future of the City." After fighting past the Courtyard (where Booker learns Tear), you will be in a circular room with two vending machines and two kinetoscopes. This is the other one.


Battle the motorized patriot (your second one - try to work behind it and aim at the vulnerable back) and find the empty Shock Jockey crate in the Gift Shop. You ain't getting that vigor (which is only middling) yet. Head back outside when you are ready for a big ass fight.

"A City Mourns..." The Gift Shop counter has a kinetoscope. You may want to explore after killing the mechanical monstrosity.


Head back out to the Courtyard and fight the enemy Firemen and soldiers. You can duck back into the Gift Shop for items there if Booker is seriously hurt. Note that shooting Slate will not damage him (so don't waste too much ammo). Shoot him just enough to goad him to trigger the next spawn-wave of enemies, and save your ammo for enemies and another motorized patriot in the Courtyard.

Remember, you can also use the freight hooks (have Elizabeth tear them in) to jump to balconies after enemies jump off them. Enemies can come down from high spots, but they cannot go from lower areas to upper areas unless there is a sky rail nearby (and motorized patriots cannot use sky rails). Figure this into your strategy for dealing with enemies.

Face Slate's message on the Courtyard wall -- the one that reads "We deserve to die as soldiers" -- and turn 90° left. Go through the door and into the workshop for a recorder. You may want to do this after you deal with the motirized patriot that comes out to attack you (from the door above). There is an infusion hidden inside of the toolbox next to this voxophone.

When fighting Slate's men in the Courtyard, face the message on the wall that reads "We deserve to die as soldiers" -- and turn 90° left. Go through the door and into the workshop and locate the phial in the toolbox near the voxophone (not shown in the above images). You may want to do this after you deal with the motorized patriot.


Find Slate and take the Shock Jockey vigor after fighting through one final hallway. Booker's decision with Slate will hardly matter - pick which one you like (there's no trophy for making any decision one way or another either, so enjoy). Head back now.
